Stone is ideal for small sculpture. I like random shaped blocks as they give you a clue as to what the image might be. I have traveled to find stone in their natural environments; to Conemarra for the beautiful green marble. To Kilkenny for the dark grey limestone. To Cornwall for the soft blue/grey soapstone. It is the most meditative way of sculpting, working slowly from the outside in.
